Melamine faced osb detail

Raw and melamine-faced supply routes are confirmed against the selected specification.

01

Confirm the grade

Application, service condition and required standard or reference.

02

Confirm the panel

Size, thickness, tolerance and raw or faced surface.

03

Confirm the evidence

Packing, marks and required test or technical documents.

Supply options

Raw panels and melamine-faced panels

Start with the substrate construction, then confirm whether the order requires a raw board or a finished decorative surface.

Raw / plain panel

OSB

Confirm the substrate itself and the requirements that affect its application.

  • Grade or approved reference
  • Size, thickness and tolerance
  • Moisture or exposure requirement
  • Technical document scope

Decorative surface

Melamine Faced OSB

Keep the substrate specification and add the approved décor, texture and finished-panel requirements.

  • Confirmed OSB substrate
  • Décor or reference sample
  • Texture and faced sides
  • Finished thickness and edge requirement

How OSB behaves

Specify grade, panel direction and moisture exposure

OSB is made from oriented wood strands arranged in layers. Directional strength, strand geometry, pressing, bond system and edge condition affect performance, so an OSB name or thickness alone is not a complete specification.

Declared grade and use

State whether the panel is for packaging, furniture, interior lining or a structural application. Structural use requires the appropriate declared grade and evidence.

Panel direction

Identify the major axis, support spacing and cutting direction where bending or racking performance matters. The two panel directions are not interchangeable.

Inspection focus

Check thickness, dimensions, strand and face condition, edge damage, moisture, edge swelling requirement and the agreed bond or grade documents.

Where it fits

Used for packaging, sheathing, temporary works and selected furniture or decorative applications when its strand surface and directional behaviour are acceptable.

Before substituting

OSB can replace some plywood applications only when grade, loading, exposure and certification match. It is not a direct replacement for smooth furniture panels.

Selection points

Make the requirement measurable

Replace broad terms such as “high quality” with construction details, approved references, named standards and agreed acceptance points.

01

Grade and standard

Avoid using a grade name without confirming the applicable standard.

02

Service condition

State whether moisture or exposure performance is required.

03

Thickness

Confirm nominal and accepted tolerance for the application.

04

Surface option

Specify raw OSB or an approved melamine finish.

05

Document scope

Match reports to the product and the factory responsible for the order.

06

Packing and marks

Protect the panel edges and identify the agreed grade.

Order follow-up

Keep the finished panel tied to the specification

The applicable checks depend on the product, order and documents agreed before production.

01

Record the requirement

Confirm the construction, surface, dimensions, application, packing and document scope.

02

Follow the order

Connect relevant production details and approved changes to the written specification.

03

Review and prepare

Check the agreed finished-panel points before packing and export preparation.

Discuss your osb requirement

A product name, application or reference image is enough to begin. The remaining specification can be confirmed during the enquiry.
